FAQ & Tips:

Questions:
Portable versus Standby - Does it matter?
The real question is: what do you need it to do? While they essentially both do the same thing, a portable generator needs to be hooked up at the time of a power outage. It then is meant to be a temporary power supply and for less things in your home or business. A standby unit comes on automatically after a power outage, and can provide power for up to an entire building until regular power is restored.

Did You Know:

When using a portable generator never use it indoors, including in your garage - carbon monoxide poisoning is serious business. Put it in your driveway or somewhere uncovered to use it. Its better to get wet than put yourself in danger.

Going to refill that portable? Wait until it cools! Gasoline splashing on a hot unit spells trouble.

If you have a standby unit it should be run weekly as part of the maintenance... this can be set to be done automatically, and helps lengthen the life of your unit!
